Sunday Morning Passout

Shepard is now approaching 5 weeks.  He is changing everyday and doing great.  We have had nights in which he slept for 6 hours but last night he was able to make another step forward.  He slept from 10 to 3 and then 4 to  730.  He has never strung two long sleep sessions together before.  Physically he is changing as well.  He can turn partially on his side.  He has always been able to hold his head up but now he can push back with his arms as well.  His favorite time is bathtime.  I think I have had a couple of smiles during bathtime.
He tried to read the Sunday paper this am but as you can see this completely wore him out.

New Friends

Cousin Roselie made a visit with Granddad

 Dad has a big thumb
 Aunt Tunie and Uncle Carter

And Nanan, Pawpaw(AKA Betty and Boney), Emily and Katie

Shepard had his best night sleep last night...930PM to 4AM!  He seems to be sleeping better and better.  His favorite night time routine includes a bath followed by a feeding.  He also likes to run the bath water and be held for up to 30 minutes some nights.  We have had a couple of car rides that sort of work to settle him down as well.  He is changing and growing everyday.  We noticed that for the last couple of days he is starting to smile and laugh while he dreams.

Shepard Sleeping

Bath TIme!!

Shepard really has enjoyed his first few baths.  He really zones out...he's back in utero

Uncle Richard is in town teaching Shepard the "Big City" ways.  Shepard is a small town boy, but I'm sure Richard will take him under his wing one day to show him New York Richard style!  Also this was Shepard's first return to Honey's house and first meeting with new cousin Marie...joint pictures I'm sure are soon to come.

Finally back at Home

After two weeks of living with Honey I have moved to my permanent house at South Lakeshore.  My first night was a little rough, mostly on my mom, but I think the transition has gone well.  I am enjoying my lake  views despite the distinct smell of a fish kill.  I had lots of visitors today and I was pretty good until everyone left.  At that point I decided I had waited long enough to eat and let my folks know it!!

Get ready Kate!! India isn't that far away.  Shepard cant wait to meet her!

The many faces of Shepard and Paba

Shepard with new friends Paige and Katie...way to go Shep.  Congrats to Paige and Matt! Cant wait for
next Cinco de Mayo!

End Of Week Two

Shepard has accomplished alot in his first two weeks...first sneeze, first all nighter, first road trip, and now first cold.  unfortunately the little guy is stuffed up and hasnt felt great the last 2 days. As u can see  he is a little worn out...

Overall he had a big weekend... he was visited by the several friends including the Lewis "Big Man" Ward

He was able to visit his future home earlier today and gave full approval...

But for now its back to Honey's back house for a full nights sleep

Has it really been two weeks already?

Future MD??

Melissa Gray gave Shepard his first set of scrubs today.  He definitely took to them immediately.  I'm going to bring him to work tomorrow and call him Mini Me

Thanks

hanging with my girls

This was taken prior to Kristin's departure back to Colorado and big man Harris. We were so happy she was able to meet lil Shep.
Shepard is still doing great, changing every day, but we have begun to notice a pattern. He really likes to sleep every 3 hours starting from 1am to 10am. But he has started to be a little grumpy from 6 p.m. to midnight. Is this the beginning of colic....i hope not!!

Also just a note to current and future fathers...do not bend down below the changing station while your son has no one guarding the fire hose. My bald head apparently was too inviting of a target tonight during a changing. All I have to say is "Great shot Shepard!" Not sure what sport this translates to , but still very proud! and only at 8 days old!!

1st week

Its hard to believe its been almost one week since Shepard was born.  It has been amazing.  He really has been better than we could have ever imagined.  He has kept us up nights, but we dont seem to mind at this point.  We tried to get him on a 2-3 hour routine and it seems to be working.  He had his best night last night sleeping for 3 hour intervals several times.  He tends to be difficult to get to sleep if he stays up too long.

He has had lots of visitors even his Aunt Kristin came in from Colorado.  Family and friends have been great.   He (or maybe we) really appreciates all the food people have brought to us.  this has given us so much more time to spend with Shepard and practice being new parents.

Shepard's first day

I was born on June 27 at 5:20 pm. I was born at 8 pounds 2.8 ounces.    Interestingly I had more hair than my dad when born.  I spent two nights in the hospital.  I went home exactly 48 hours after I was born.  My first home was Honey's house because after 9 months my house is still under construction.
